The northern region was dominated by factories and big cities. they are the most manufactured goods that would be sold across the country.
the southern region was predominately farming and plantations. the long growing season and fertile soil made large scale agriculture profitable

The whole popularity of stows novel made the northerners realize that slavery wasn't right. also to help the movement while southerners were fighting back saying slavery was right.
The southerners were mad about the novel because the northerners were not encouraging it and they did not know how the southerners lived and the help with enslaved people.
