the northern states would hire immigrants and pay them very
low wages, they also had bad working conditions.
in the south, they had plantations using forced labor of black enslaved people. They had a lot of discrimination and racism.
the southern area was very profitable because they had a long growing season and fertile soil so the climate helped them.

Slavery
Enslaved people were discriminated against by getting paid less(or in most cases not at all), Not getting fed as much or as high quality food, no rights, etc.
People who went to the same church usually had the same (or similar) beliefs. this means that the majority of them either were against slavery or agreed with it. In this case they all stood up and worked together since they had the same beliefs.

Southerners were upset over the novel because they said that the northerners knew nothing about their life and shouldn't be writing about it.

The north and south were different because the worth had lots of buildings and factories all over the streets while it the south it was mostly fields and plantations
