Nursery aged children
maintaining good routines. Need to start reducing screen time for 1.5-2 hours before bed. Or ideally no screen time for preschoolers!!!

Toddlers
starting to see which children do sleep and which don’t. Early help for families where children don’t sleep – to check that they have had all the good advice, what their social supports are and ultimately to make sure things don’t get to a safeguarding level. (Guidance around comforting babies that show inconsolable crying from Association of Infant Mental Health.)
6–18 months
getting into good patterns – choice of methods for parents while not damaging their emotional connection with babies, i.e. promote no–cry sleep training. But there is also and still the issue about cultural attitudes to caring for babies – we should follow their lead as far as possible rather than making them fit into an industrialised schedule
Newborn-6 months
more about parents having permission and chance to sleep whenever baby sleeps, i.e. day or night. Especially important if you are breastfeeding

Parents
no point the kids getting good sleep if parents don’t. Family sleep health? There are apps and sleep monitoring on smart watches these days aren’t there. Or can just ask yourself how you feel! Need to look at alcohol and caffeine consumption as well – also applies to teenagers especially re energy drinks, which can cause a vicious cycle of poor sleep, feel tired, drink more energy drinks
