The Northern states supported Tariffs because they were based on industry and Tariffs help slow down foreign goods
The Southern states did not support Tariffs because they did not want to pay more for imported goods

New states caused regional division because pro and anti slavery people would rush to a state to make it a free or slave state
The North was rocky and cold, not good for farming. The South was flat and warm which is really good for farming which decided there economy.

Abraham Lincolns thoughts one slavery were that he would not abolish it but would contain it in the south
the only people who could vote in the 1860 the women and the colored people were not aloud to vote yet

the south was warm and humid and the north was dry and cold which means the south was a lot better for planting, because of that the north built a lot of factories to work in so they could still produce product
