Enslaved people were discriminated against by not having legal rights and couldn't vote, they couldn't leave the institution that they have been born into unless they were freed by the owner.
Abolitionists were an extension of the church because they wrote their congressmen on the on the unjust and inhumane system and asked for it to be abolished.

Election of 1860
The only people that could vote for the election of 1860 were white men. The population that were eligible to vote were 6.9 million

Lincoln's thoughts on expanding slavery were to oppose it. Lincoln did not like the idea of expanding slavery but he did say they could keep enslaved people in the south but not to expand any new territories
Industry v. Agriculture
The southern was a warm climate which made it easy to keep growing and planting crops. For the northern area it was cold and had really rocky soil
Northern workforce- The northern workforce was a factory, they hired immigrants and paid them very low wages. Most of the time the conditions in the factory inside were harmful to the workers
Southern workforce- The southern work force was a plantation. They used forced labor of black enslaved people, because it was so cheap the labor made the enslaved Peron the property of another person

the Fugitive Slave Act upset Northern Abolitionists because the act required any person even those in free states to aid in the capture and return of enslaved people
the 10th Amendment supported states' rights by establishing the idea of federalism and the rights of the states if it's not written specifically in the constitution for the federal government then it is left to the stats.
Sectionalism
New states caused regional division because of their economic systems, social structures, customs, and political values.

Uncle Tom's Cabin
The result of the popularity of Stowe’s novel is that people's complaints grew louder during the Civil War.

Southerners were upset over the novel because it showed that Stowe was a Northerner and knew nothing about the Southern's way of life and the treatment of enslaved people.
