States rights
The constitution says... The constitution was invented from the U.S, to get freedom from Great Britain, it was said in the constitution, that said " The governors can decide stuff for their own state like laws or the tax percentage the governor gives the people. This is good because the president was said to not be to powerful in the constitution.

An idea as old as time. People have had a belief since colonies have been made, that states deserve their own rights. Which means they get to decide if a law or taxes is good for them and make rules to govern their state
Industry v agriculture
Economic Activities Cause Social Conflict: People in the northern side of the U.S. believed that the country should do more work on the manufacturing side, but the south still wanted to do farm work and believed that they should stay how they were. In the north they thought slavery should not be around, but the south still wanted slavery, which led to the civil war.

Passed on September 18, 1850 by Congress, The Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 was part of the Compromise of 1850. The act required that slaves be returned to their owners, even if they were in a free state. The act also made the federal government responsible for finding, returning, and trying escaped slaves
It had many causes, but there were two main issues that split the nation: first was the issue of slavery, and second was the balance of power in the federal government. The South was primarily an agrarian society. Throughout the South were large plantations that grew cotton, tobacco and other labor-intensive crops
One of the most striking differences between the North and the South was the climate and geography. The North's climate was full of warm summers and cold winters; the terrain was rocky and hilly, which wasn't good for farming. But the North did have little farms
