Ceasefire
Definiton

Arbitration
Definiton

Since it is an alternative mechanism for resolving conflicts and achieving peace between nations.

The Permanent Court of Arbitration played a role in resolving territorial disputes in the South China Sea, such as the case between the Philippines and China.
Mediation
Definition
Mediation. The United Nations (UN) Guidance for Effective Mediation describes mediation as a voluntary process “whereby a third party assists two or more parties, with their consent, to prevent, manage or resolve a conflict by helping them to develop mutually acceptable agreements”.

In the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, NATO acted as a mediator to try to resolve the conflict.

With a mediator who does not have a side, it will be much easier to find a fair solution for the entities that are in conflict and achieve peace.

Definition
agreement between two or more warring parties, usually governments, that formally ends a state of war between the parties.
