modern biotechnology application CLONING
meaning
Cloning is the process of generating a genetically identical copy of a cell or an organism.
Procedure
Scientists take DNA from a somatic cell of an animal and put it into an egg cell that has had its DNA and nucleus removed. With the same genes as the cell donor, the egg develops into a developing embryo. The embryo is then placed inside the uterus of an adult female in order to grow.
