- - - - Duty to assess any carer who appears to have needs for support
      - Carers have legal rights to request an assessment
      - Carers no longer need to be providing substantial and regular care
      - New eligibility criteria for carer's support is provided under the Care and Support (Eligibility Criteria) Regulations 2015, reg 3
      - Duties and powers to meet carers eligible needs under s.20 of the Care Act 2014
  - - - "carer" in relation to a child, means an adult who provides or intends to provide care for a child
      - S62 power to meet child carer's needs for support
    - - "Young carer" means a person under 18 who provides or intends to provide care for an adult
      - Children and Families Act 2015 and S17 of Children Act 1989 provides assessment and support for young carers and parent carers of children under 18
- - - - b) whether the carer would benefit from the provision of S2 or S4 of the act available in the community
  - - - Is unable to achieve without assistance but doing so endangers others or self
    - - Persons wishes, preferences and desired outcomes

    - - a) accommodation in a care home or in other premises
      - b) care and support at home or in community
      - c) counselling and other types of social work
      - d) goods and facilities
      - e) information, advice and advocacy

      - Maintaining personal hygiene
      - Managing toilet needs
      - Being appropriately clothed
      - Being able to make use of the adult's home safely
      - Maintaining a habitable home environment
      - Developing and maintaining family or other personal relationships
      - Accessing and engaging in work, training, education or volunteering
      - Making use of necessary facilities or services in the local community, including public transport and recreational facilities or services
      - Carrying out any caring responsibilities the adult has for a child
- - - - A) prepare a care and support plan or a support plan for the adult concerned
      - B) Telll the adult the needs it is going to meet and may be met by direct payments
      - C) Help the adult with deciding how to have the needs met

      - B) Establish whether the adult needing care is ordinarily resident in the local authority's area (Ordinarily resident is established under S.39-41)

      - The individuals contribution to society
