REFLECTIVE ESSAY WRITING ON TEACHING
What aspects of your lesson were implemented differently than you planned? Why did that happen
The use of audio to play the different sounds of sirens and watching video clips showing the traffic lights and how sirens have different colours, because some students are visual learners
If you were going to teach this lesson to the same group of students, what would you do differently? Why? What would you do the same? Why?
I would do one more class with them about road safety signs, because it is important to know about the road signs, especially now that we use the roads daily traveling on vehicles to and from our destination. I would stick to the same length of time for each lesson, because it is the perfect time for a year 1 class
What surprised you in your lesson?
The fact that the students didnt know what the road signs meant
To what extent did the students learn what was intended? How do you know?
In what ways were your activities effective? How do you know?
all the students joined in on the activities, even the shy or quite ones
In what ways were your teaching methods effective? How do you know?
implementing visual aids into the lesson, students at year 1 see or hear an actual siren or beep. I know it is effective because you hear them talking about it after the lesson or when you ask questions, they answer correctly
In what ways were the instructional materials/resources effective?
Instructions were designed for year 1 students to easily understand and follow
How did any special considerations or accommodations affect the lesson
provide extra time for those students sruggling
modified activities that best fit this student(s)
an easy assessment for slow students
Identify an individual or group of students who had difficulty in today’s lesson. How do you account for this performance? How will you help this (these) student(s) achieve the learning objectives?
Give them an easier scenario when doing role play
spend more time with them
break down tasks for them, and as they progress, add more steps to their task
when students are paired, try pairing them with a student who has the same ability as them
Identify an individual or group of students who had difficulty in today’s lesson. How do you account for this performance? How will you help this (these) student(s) achieve the learning objectives?
put them in the same groups with the same abilities
take them for a walk around block or community to see road signs
CONCLUSION: Based on what happened in this lesson, what are the next steps? What do you plan to teach next to this class? Be sure to explain how you will use information from this evaluation in future lesson planning
For road safety, will have a walk around the community to see the different road signs
Take a field trip to around the village (main road and back round to see road signs
Invite Police over to talk about the road signs and rules
when students are having difficulty slow their pace down
give homework for slow students to take home and read through
if there is no help at home, extra lessons during break or PE will be good to help them catch up, But not too long
