Neonatal Rashes
Salmon Patch
Description
Patch at nape of neck, eyelides, glabella and most fade by 12 months

Milia
Description
May be present at birth, and tiny white papules that are discrete and typically on face and scalsp that resolve within few months

Seborrheoeic Dermatitis
Description
First few weaks, and "Cradle cap" where greasy yellow plaques appear on scalp, forehead, eyebrows
Treatment
Mild tar shampoo, oatmeal baths, avoid soaps,a nd sometiles topical steroid
Neonatal Acne
Description
Pustules over cheap, but over entire face and scalp, resolved without scarring
Diaper Dermatitis
Description
Mositure/irrtation from ruine/stool, and can become superinfected with candida albicans
Treatment
Use of barrier creams, topical nystatin, topic steroid may be needed
Dermal Melanocytosis
Decription
Bluish-benign skin pigmentation that fade in first few years of life that can be confused with bruises on child
Neonatal Jaundice

Consequences
Risk of developing severe hyperbilirbinemia which can result in acute bilirubin encephalopathy (Kernicterus)

Pretem babies, males, asian, Dehydratoon
Kernicterus
G6pd Deficiency, Isoimmune hemolytic disease, Respiratory distress
Treatment

Moderate Jaundice
UV light exposure to skin, oral feeding, repeat measurmenets
Severe Jaundice
Intensive Phototherapy, may need double volume exchange transfusion, frequent bili measurements
Immunization
Hepatitis B if necessary (Nunavut, Maternal risk factors, Hep B +ve mom)
