        Has some long moments where he thinks to himself about how the town he lives in sucks due to the racism and how sharecropping seems to still be a thing there

    - - However it seems as if roles flip-flop at the end, With Jefferson writing down his thoughts, while Grant is content in trying to spread his ideas on the racist south.

        Very hard to read due to limited education 2. Opens up on what he feels, thinks, sees, talks, and hears about.
      - "hog" comes from the court case defense, where is defense attorney calls him a hog for how stupid he is
        
        Leads to believe he thinks he is a hog and therefore becomes one by not talking much to either Miss Emma or Grant
        
        Grant eventually breaks and starts ranting about how he feels about the whole situation- resulting in Jefferson shedding some tears.
        
        Results in Miss Emma giving him a good slap
