How we feel

Key concept: We can record and read the weather.

Key concept: We build shelters.

Key concept: We feel different in different weather conditions.

Key concept: We dress differently in warm weather to cold weather.

Key concept: How does the environment look in different weather conditions.

Activity: Coming up with a solution to protect an "animal" from the sunlight (Chelsey, 2017).

Create a sun shelter for UV-sensitive animals that are made of pipe cleaners and UV-sensitive pony beads. Test the shelter outdoors, using recyclable materials. If the animal remains white, improve it, similar to sun protection.

Activity: Create and read a weather wheel (Writer, 2023)

Create a weather wheel on a paper plate, divide it into four sections and label each with a weather condition. Decorate each section with colors. Create a weather stick and attach a cotton ball. Use the wheel and discuss weather changes with kindergarteners.

Activity: How does the sun affect the earth (Buddies & Buddies, 2021)

The activity compares the temperature of two materials, labeled "Sun" and "Shade," and observes their temperature changes over time. The "Sun" cups are placed in a sunny location, while the "Shade" cups are in a shaded area.

How temperature differs in different locations.

Activity: Temperature Walk (Weather for Kindergarten, 2016).

Students observe their surroundings and measure temperature in different locations. Discuss the Sun's energy role in Earth's temperature and its variations. Explore seasons, materials, and adaptations of animals and plants to understand the Earth's temperature.

Activity: Look at the weather everyday and discuss its characteristics.

Activity: Weather through the years.

Students explore the impact of weather on people's lives in historical periods like ancient Egypt, mediaeval Europe, and pioneer days, encouraging kindergarteners to imagine their daily lives.

Activity: Dressing different dolls in clothes that relate to different weather conditions.
