- - - - forced to work – through coercion, or mental or physical threat;
      - owned or controlled by an ’employer’, through mental or physical abuse or the threat of abuse;

  - - - Purposes of exploitation can range from forced prostitution and forced labour to forced marriage and forced organ removal. Here are the most common forms of modern slavery:
        
        Forced labour – any work or services which people are forced to do against their will under the threat of some form of punishment.
        
        Debt bondage or bonded labour – the world’s most widespread form of slavery, when people borrow money they cannot repay and are required to work to pay off the debt, then losing control over the conditions of both their employment and the debt.
        
        Human trafficking– involves transporting, recruiting or harbouring people for the purpose of exploitation, using violence, threats or coercion.
        
        Descent-based slavery – where people are born into slavery because their ancestors were captured and enslaved; they remain in slavery by descent.
        
        Child slavery – many people often confuse child slavery with child labour, but it is much worse. Whilst child labour is harmful for children and hinders their education and development, child slavery occurs when a child is exploited for someone else’s gain. It can include child trafficking, child soldiers, child marriage and child domestic slavery.
        
        Forced and early marriage – when someone is married against their will and cannot leave the marriage. Most child marriages can be considered slavery.
    - - At any given time in 2016, an estimated 40.3 million people are in modern slavery, including 24.9 in forced labour and 15.4 million in forced marriage.
      - It means there are 5.4 victims of modern slavery for every 1,000 people in the world.
      - 1 in 4 victims of modern slavery are children.
      - Out of the 24.9 million people trapped in forced labour, 16 million people are exploited in the private sector such as domestic work, construction or agriculture and 4.8 million persons in forced sexual exploitation
      - Women and girls are disproportionately affected by forced labour, accounting for 99% of victims in the commercial sex industry, and 58% in other sectors
  - - - Supply chain is the name given to the production process of a good from the collection of raw material through to final product. Workers may be enslaved at any stage of the supply chain.
  - - - The Catholic Church proclaims that human life is sacred and that the dignity of the
      - human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society. This belief is the foundation
      - of all the principles of our social teaching.
    - - A basic moral test is how our most vulnerable members are faring. In a society
      - marred by deepening divisions between rich and poor, our tradition recalls the story
      - of the Last Judgment (Mt 25:31-46) and instructs us to put the needs of the poor
      - and vulnerable first.

      - The characteristics or qualities of a person or thing that belong to them and make them recognisable

      - Ideas and activities are centred on the ‘Other’ – a supernatural being, power or force and requires believers to give their loyalty to God or several divine beings

  - - - Social media is computer-based technology that facilitates the sharing of ideas, thoughts, and information through the building of virtual networks and communities.
      - Content includes personal information, documents, videos, and photos.
      - By design, social media is internet-based and gives users quick electronic communication of content.
      - Users engage with social media via computer, tablet or smartphone via web-based software or web application, often utilising it for messaging.
    - - User-generated content such as text, posts, comments, digital photos, videos, and data generated through all online interactions is the lifeblood of social media.
      - Social media helps increase online social networks by connecting a user's profile with those of other individuals or groups.

      - This planning activity needs to be done upfront, before starting the actual research
