Tobacco & sugar, sold to masses as everyday items, used to be luxury items.
A&B developed economically because of slave trade.
Cheap slave labour, huge profits for plantation owners & traders.
Negative Impact on West Africa
Big parts of Africa lost many of young people.
Not enough healthy & strong people to do farming.
Royal families became richer, ordinary people poorer.
Kings received large taxes from ordinary African people.
Kings with strong armies obtained slaves through war.
Some African kings became rich through slave trade.
