Racial policies
Hitler believed Aryans were supreme race, and that other races, (most specifically Jews and gypsies) were far inferior
Hitler called these inferior race Untermenschen
Laws agains the Untermenschen
In 1933, the sterilisation law was passed, where all disabled people, along with tramps and the homeless were sterilised. this resulted in around 700,000 people in Germany to be sterilised
Delinquents, tramps, homosexuals and jews and gypsies were sent to concentration camps
Hitler banned intermarriage between Germans and Gypsies and Germans and blacks in order to ensure Aryan purity
Since Hitler believed that mental illnesses were hereditary, he began to kill off mentally disabled people in Germany. This was done either through starvation, lethal injection or gas chambers
Jewish Persecution
Anti-semitism was extremely prevelant after the Nazis took over, as the Nazis found jews as a scapegoat to blame their problems on
Hitler wanted to act on his ideas, so when he took over, he took great measures against the jews
A. In september 1933, Hitler organised major boycotting movements against Jewish businesses
B. In 1935, No jews were allowed to enter public spots
C. In spetember 1935, The Nuremberg laws were passed
D. Many jews would emigrate due to the persecution. In 1939, emigration was banned, and 160,000 Jews became stuck in Germany, awaiting their fate
D. All Jewsih possesions became owned by the government
E. Jews were forced to carry ID cards, and were forced to present them to Nazi superiors
F. Jewsish professionals were not allowed to accept work from non-Jews
The Nuremberg laws
In september 1935, the Nuremberg laws were introduced
Law 1: The Reich law for protection of German blood
This law stated that Jews and Aryans were not aloowed to marry or engaged in sexual intercourse
It heavily encouraged Aryans to get a divorce from Jews, or they would legally be viewed as Jews as well
Law 2: The Reich law on citizenship
Only people with german blood would be German citizens
Jews no longer were allowd to vote
Kristallnacht (night of the broken glass)
In November 1938, a german official was murdered by a Jewish man
2.This would give the Nazis an excuse to launch a campaign of terror against the Jews in Germany
On the night from 9th to the 10th of November:
A. 800 Jewish shops were destroyed
B. 191 synagogues were set on fire
C. jewish homes were attacked, with property inside them becoming damaged or stolen
D. 91 Jews were killed and 30,000 Jews were arrested
After the night was over, Goebbels and Hitler played the planned attack as rage coming from the German populations
While the Jews bought this, they were still fined 1 billion marks, as most of the property destroyed during the night was actually German and not Jewish
