Eclectic (adj.)
Art Deco was widely considered to be an eclectic style, as it drew from historical eras and exotic cultures. Art Deco was influenced by a variety of sources: Russian Ballet, “primitive” arts of Africa, Art Nouveau, Cubism, Egypt, Aztec Mexico, machine Age/ Streamline technology, North American Indians. It therefore developed in a few directions:
