1965- labour allow leas to choose wether to go comp but most don’t, labelling still occurs
1988- era, marketisation, league tables, ofsted, formula funding
1997-2010- new labour, maths and literacy, class sizes @ 30, academies, ema £30, eaz
criticisms- too focused on test passing, class gap grown
2010-2015- coalition (lib dems & tories) expanding academies, bursary/p.prem, free schools, class sizes @ 31 due to population growth
criticisms- austerity cuts 60% on school buildings, rise in fsm, 1/10 use p.prem correctly
2015-present- tories, ebacc, alevels modular to linear, vocational & apprenticeships, more grammar schools since 2018
criticisms- turning back clock, discrimination
