Becoming an Effective Teacher
Planning
planning for instruction consists of: identifying a topic, specify learning objectives, prepare organize activites and lastly create assessments.
this then leads to the creation of examples or problems into introducing a specific topic or problem. This is one of the most important of creating activities and why its important that learning objectives are clear.
planning in standard based environments often requires a teacher interpretation to start. Once understood then the teacher can go on ahead to form and design activities
Instructional Strategies
strategies that are used for instructional purposes are designed to help students reach specific objectives. Many strategies like direct instruction help students learn basic skills.
Other effective strategies include lecture discussion which helps students understand ideas in large bodies of knowledge like geography and lifestyle. Guided discovery- helps students understand concepts and how to form ideas on their own.
problem based instruction- teaches problem solving and critical thinking
cooperative learning- helps support the other strategies and can be effective for helping students learn social interaction skills.
Motivation
effective teaching can be difficult if students are not motivated. These two are what are called "interdependent" meaning that we cant have one without the other
having students motivated can only lead them to success. With students willing to learn they can see progress in their studies, challenging tasks, participation, and have a more positive attitude.
Similarly its also important to keep students interested. If students are interested into what is being explained, they are more likely to put more attention, more effort, and participate in what's being taught.
Implementing Instruction
This process includes putting plans into action. This part goes on to show qualities that the teacher possess. For example content knowledge, professional knowledge, and verbal ability
effective teachers build relationships with students. In ways of caring for them and having positive expectations. In addition teachers should have their own genuine interest in the subject they teach.
being organized, having materials ready, and being ready to teach is essential to promote student learning.
