Until it was put in perspective, I never thought of the bystander role as being a reinforcement or encouraging the negative actions posed by the bully. When someone feels as if they should stay out of a situation or let someone else handle it to keep the peace, you're initially causing more damage. Which is why it takes us to stand-up and make change against workplace bullying and bullying in general. Once we understand how impactful our voices are, we can see effective change instead of remaining silent behind the issue.
