Design Thinking Cycle
having the effort to understand
- the way people do things and why they do it
- their physical and emotional needs
- their thinking process and what they value
Why do we need to empathise?
- It allow one to get beyond their assumption by putting themselves in the shoes of others which allow them to see things in another perspective.
How to do we empathise with others?
- observing
- interviewing
-empathy immersion
It is about bringing clarity and focus by specifically stating the challenge your conquering based on what we have found out about the context
Why define?
It allows us to have a clearer understanding of the right challenge to address based on the target user and their problem space.
How to define?
- Be specific. Creating a direct problem to focus on.
- Have a clear goal for the team so they can decide independently.
- It inspires your team
It is getting your ideas out of your head and make it into a product. The product does not have to be time consuming as the important point is to get constructive feedback of it.
Why prototype?
- Even if you fail, you will not lose a great amount of your time and money as the commitment of making the prototype is low.
How to prototype?
- Have an effort to make the first step as this will spark some idea along the way.
- Identity the outcome. The prototype must be able to answer the question when being tested.
5.Test
It is the chance to get feedback of your solution and using this feedback to make the solutions better.
-
- To allow us to make any changes or refinement to the prototype
- It also gives us a clearer understanding of whether the prototype is suitable and meet the user's needs.
How to test?
- By showing and having minimal explanation to let the tester interpret the prototype.
- Observe how they interact with it
It is generating ideas and thinking of all possibilities which would then lead to different outcomes
Why do we need to ideate
- This is to create solutions of the problem by combining your understanding, thoughts and idea with your imagination.
How to ideate?
- Go beyond your thoughts
- Create volume and variety in ideas
- Drives the team to think beyond the obvious
