trait and social learning theory
TRAIT
Trait theory explains that behaviour is a function of personality
trait characteristics are constant
using a questionnaire allows coach to see who would fit team the best
measured on a graph
graph has y axis on top neurotic (means sensitive reactions) and stable on bottom (stable reactions). on x axis has extrovert and introvert. Coaches want an extrovert who is stable. This means they are outgoing but they have stable reactions so stay focused.
SOCIAL LEARNING THEORY
states behaviour is a function of your environment b = f(e)
split into 4 sections
Observe
Identify
Reinforce
Copy
states we observe someone doing something (i.e. taking a penalty). Identify that everyone is cheering and celebrating when they scored. Then they will try replicate this and copy it so next time there's a penalty they will take it to get the same reaction.
good for coach as behaviour is changeable (a negative behaviour can be changed)
interactionist theory (Hollander & Lewin)
states that behaviour is the function of personality and environment. B = f(pe)
3 circles.

role related behaviour
implies that further changes to behaviour may be needed as situation changed.
