February 1924, Hitler, Ludendorff, Rohm were put on trial for the Munich Putsch
Hitler used this to his advantage, and gave a speech during the trial
A. He criticised the Weimar leaders, saying that they stabbed Germany in the back
B. He attacked the government system, by saying how they failed Germany's economy and social system
This was reported around the world, and Hitler was now seen as a "proud nationalist standing up for German rights"
In conclusion, while Hitler was guitly, the judge was very impressed by Hitler's speech, and let him off easily
This is because even the supreme judge hated the Weimar government
Hitler's jail time
Hitler and his associates were all found guilty of treason, and were were all sentenced to 5 years in jail for this.
A. This was an extremely light sentence considering their actions
B. Ludendorff was not arrested, as the judge had great sympathy as he was a war hero
Hitler served only 9 months out of 5 years, and had very good conditions
A. He had his own, large room
B. A comfortable bed
C. Good food
D. Allowed on regular leaves
Hitler also managed to write an autobiography, Mein Kampf (My struggle), which boosted his campaign and ideas even more
Advantages
The Munich Putsch was overall a success:
A. Hitler had a comfortable and short imprisonment
B. Hitler managed to gave his powerful speech, making him a National and International icon
C. Hitler managed to write Mein Kampf during his imprisonment, meaning he could influence more and more people from Germany now
D. His light imprisonment meant that even higher powers in society, like the supreme judge, hated the Weimar government
Disadvantages
A. Hitler and his associates were imprisoned, which halted his movement
B. The Nazi party was banned
