Materials
Well plate
Zinc metal strip
Copper metal strip
ZnSO4 solution (0.5 M)
CuSO4 solution (0.5 M)
Multimeter
Strip of paper soaked in KCl solution (0.5 M)
Dropper (or anything to measure drops)
Procedure
1.-Prepare the Galvanic Cells:
1.-Arrange the well plate with two compartments.
2.-In one compartment, pour 1 ml (20 drops) of ZnSO4 solution (0.5 M).
3.-In the other compartment, pour 1 ml (20 drops) of CuSO4 solution (0.5 M).
4.-Place a zinc metal strip in the ZnSO4 solution and a copper metal strip in the CuSO4 solution.
2.-Assemble the Salt Bridge:
1.-Take a strip of paper and soak it in KCl solution (0.5 M).
2.-Place the strip of paper between the two compartments of the well plate, ensuring it connects the solutions without mixing them.
3.-Measure Voltage and Current of Individual Cells:
Set up the multimeter to measure voltage and current.
Connect the positive lead of the multimeter to the zinc metal strip and the negative lead to the copper metal strip.
Record the voltage and current readings.
Repeat the measurements two more times for accuracy.
Reverse the connections (positive lead to copper and negative lead to zinc) and record the readings again.
Record all readings in a table.
4.-Measure Voltage and Current of Cells in Series:
Connect the positive terminal of one cell to the negative terminal of the other.
Measure the voltage and current across the connected cells using the multimeter.
Record the readings.
5.- Measure Voltage and Current of Cells in Parallel:
Connect the positive terminals of both cells together and the negative terminals together.
Measure the voltage and current across the parallel-connected cells using the multimeter.
Record the readings.
