Weber suggests that power in society is distributed through tradition and habit rather than social control which Marx believed
division of classes
- propertied class - have money, status and political power
- petty Bourgeoisie- small business owners, have less power and status but still important and powerful for their community
- working class - have little to no status , class or political power they may demand power through the skills they have ie labour
- professional class some status some money some political power
sources of power
class - like Marx/ new Marx it is unequal access of any group of people to resources or wealth- bourgeois and proloes
status - respect, we may respect certain peoples opinion as we view them as socially superior to us
party - political power this isn just the case of being voted in . but can also be certain groups who influence politics
