BASIC ELECTRICITY
COMPONENTS OF A CIRCUIT
CELL: they have a positive and negative terminal ; this lets supply electric current to the circuit when they are connected.
-
-
-
-
RESISTOR: load decive that opposes the flow of the electric current. Converts electrical energy to heat enery.
-
ONE-WIRE SWITCH: they open or close circuit when they are pressed. One possition opens the circuit and stops the electric current from flowing through it.
PUSH SWITCH: they open and closethe circuit but only while the button is pushed. The decives con be normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) depending of what we do.
TWO-WAY SWITCH: they have two position. When we press them, they chanfe from one position to the other.
3-ELECTRIC CIRCUITS
DEFINITION: are series of interconnected components that an electric current flows through to produce an effect.
-
CONTROL DECIVES: are decives that regulate the circuit.
The main types of control decives bare one-way switches, push switches and two-way switches.
CONDUCTORS: are components that transport the electrical energy from the power sources to the load decives.
The conductive components of a circuit are the wires
POWER SOURCES: components that supply the necessary electrical energy.
The generaors of direct current in a circuit are cells and batteries.
1-ELECTRICAL ENERGY
All materials are made up of very small particles called atoms. Atoms are made up of other particles even smaller.
We can classify these particles in three types acording to their charge: protons, neutrons and electrons.
ELECTRICITY is a form of energy that lets negatively charged particles move from one atom to another.
-
ELECTRICAL ENERGY is the most comman form of enrgy because it is easy to obtain, it can be transported over long disances.
6-OHM'S LAW
DEFINITION: is directly proportional to the electric potential difference impressef across its ends and inversely proportional to the total resistance offreced by the external circuit.
-CURRENT: intensity of the current or the amountflowing through a conductor over a certain time. It's a unit of measurement (ampere or amp).
VOLTAGE/POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE: is the difference in the charge between two points (positive and negative terminals), wich makes the electron moves.

5-SHORT CIRCUITS
OPEN CIRCUITS: when energy of the power source cannot reach the load decives, so elecetric current cannot flow.
CLOSED CIRCUITS: when the energy of the power source reaches the load decives, so the electric current flows.
DEFINITION: it ocurrs when the electric current is trnasported by wires without passig through a load decive.
