France wanted complete control over brittany, H7 owed a debt to Brittany- they sheltered him
it would threaten trade with Brittany, and would make it easier to invade England and take calais

France:
H7 sends 12,000 troops into France
short siege of Boulogne
Treaty of Etaples 1492: took the troops out of Brittany, no supporting pretenders, and a pension of £5000 per annum paid to H7 from France

Signed Treaty of Ayton/Treaty of Perpetual Peace 1502- agreed the marriage of Margaret Tudor to James IV
Burgundy
Burgundy was a troublemaker for England- Maximilian had betrayed H7 in treaty of dordrecht, and Margaret was sister of Richard 3
H7 started a trade embargo against Burgundy in 1493 over their support of Warbeck- hurt both countries financially
Resulted in intercursus Magnus 1496- ended trade embargo, gave reciprocal trading rights between English and fleming

Ireland:
H7 no longer wanted to rely on Kildare to maintain control of Ireland- he had supported Simnel and Warbeck
H7 tried direct control by appointing his son Henry as Lieutenant of Ireland and Poynings as his deputy

'Poynings Law' was passed by the Irish govt in 1495- meant that the Irish govt could pass no law without the approval of the English crown
direct control was expensive, and so he reverted back to Kildare rule

Treaty of Medina Del Campo 1489- provided trade incentives, and marriage between Arthur and Catherine of Aragon
