Newspapers such as the 'People's Daily' critcised Mao's adversaries and censored controvercial news sories, and promoted Mao's Sucesses

Through the Long March, the Red Army was able to spread the words of Mao to the peasants along the way
The local cadres, assigned to different divisions of the population, they were able to advocate for Mao during group meetings

Calls To Action
Through the use of propaganda, many people went through 'Thought Reform,' encouraged to act in the interest of the State by following and actively supporting campaigns
'The Great Leap Forward' was encouraged through propaganda leading to many people starting furnaces in their gardens to make steel for the industry, or for people to move out of farming and take on industrial jobs.
'The 4 Pests' Campaign followed Lysenkoism and encouraged people to kill sparrows, flies, mosquitos and rats
Censoring
Forms of foreign literature were banned from Chinese schools. Any criticism of the CCP or policies were also censored, as were any reports of failures of Mao.
