travelled to Ireland and crowned as King by Kildare
Kildare gave support of 4,500 Irish Kerns
conspiracy led by John de la pole, Earl of Lincoln
persuaded Margaret of burgundy to support the claim
she paid for a mercenary force- 2000 men
Battle of Stoke Field, 1487
Henry= 12,000-15,000 men Simnel=8000
Henry was not confident in battle himself
His army led by Oxford held firm and defeated Simnel
Lincoln killed in battle
HVII showed mercy to simnel, giving him a job in the royal kitchens
Warbeck, 1491-1499
first impersonated Richard, Duke of York in Ireland, 1491
after a brief period at the court of France, he was forced to flee after Etaples
then arrived at court of Margaret of Burgundy and was trained as a potential Yorkist prince- started attracting English courtiers into the conspiracy
made first attempt to invade 1495- was a disaster, h7 had been informed by his royal agent, Sir Robert Clifford
warbeck quickly defeated, fled to court of James IV
James sent a small force over border on warbecks behalf but retreated
forced to flee 1496 when James accepted Henrys marriage proposal
