Introduction The movies Ursli and La Gloire de mon Père are film adaptations from books that were very popular in it's country, and well known, especially by children. La Gloire de mon Père is a semi biographical story, recounting the childhood of Marcel Pagnol, about his adventures visiting the south of France during his family summer break. Ursli is a children's book, which was one of Switzerlands most well known books. It recounts a story of a young boy who lives in the Alps of Switzerland, who helps his father who makes cheese keep the goats.
--> Because the films were literary adaptations of popular books, it already gave viewers a sens of nostalgia from the get go, as they were able to see a story that was already familiar with them.
--> I will be discussing how nostalgia is conveyed through the film for all audiences (even if they havn't read the book before) and how it created nostalgia. I will talk about Mise en Scene, Soundtrack and cinematography.
