Who was who?
At the beginning of the book, the author switched connections quite often so it was difficult to comprehend what happened to which character and who what connected to whom.
Mysterious Intentions
The book had a lot of unknowns. Even after finishing the book, there are so many questions we can ask ourselves about what was behind the actions of many of the main characters.
Concepts
What was the point of The Night Circus? There was no explanation on the importance of the place and what value it brought to the main character besides the fact that it was an arena to them.
Characterization
Despite having read the book, it still feels as if there are still things we wonder about the characters. We know the basics; how to describe them and what they did. But when someone asks why, we don't know.
LEVEL 3 QUESTIONS
Is there such a thing as “love at first sight?”
Is it possible to choose your own fate? Or are the good things in life just luck?
Is there a real difference between a “hero” and a “villain,” or are we just human?
How much control do parents have over their children?
BOOK CONNECTIONS
Antigone by Sophocles
We can relate the Night Circus to Antigone by the way their world is in which they were born. An important thing in Antigone's life was being taken away from her from her own blood. For Celia and Marco, it was their free will. While Celia and Marco were forced to join the circus and play the game, Antigone was forced to leave her brother alone and dead, unburied.
