- - - - Estrogen(Control metabolism,inflammation, immune functions, salt and water balance), testosterone(Maintain/develop male sex characteristics, such as facial hair, deep voice, and muscle growth), aldosterone(Causes body to retain both salt and water), cortisol(Regulate body's stress response) are examples that form from cholesterol.
  - - - Amines(Norepinephrine,Epinephrine, thyroid hormones), peptides(Antidiuretic hormone, oxytocin, thyrotropin releasing hormone),proteins and polypeptides(Parathyroid hormone,growth hormone,prolactin), or glycoproteins(Follicle stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, thyroid stimulating hormone), are produced from amino acids.
- - - - Above the pituitary gland and below the third ventricle; Area that produces many body balancing jobs such as body temperature, heart rate, and hunger through hormones. Dopamine is the "feel good" hormone and somatostatin is the growth hormone and TSH hormone secretions.
    - - At the base of your brain. Controls the involuntary nervous system regulating growth, metabolism, and reproduction through the hormones that it produces. The Anterior Pituitary consists of ACTH,TSH,LH,FSH,PRL,GH,MSH. The Posterior consists of ADH and Oxytocin.

        Receives information about the daily light-dark cycle from the retinas in your eyes and then secretes melatonin accordingly. Elevates high levels at night and low levels during the day.
  - - - At the front of the neck and produces thyroxine and triiodothyronine that regulate your weight, energy levels, internal temperature, skin, hair, nail growth and is important in the endocrine system.
    - - Next to the two thyroid lobes in the neck that regulate calcium, phosphorus and magnesium in the bones and blood.
  - - - In the chest, between the lungs and behind the breastbone or sternum. Thymosin also stimulates hormones that control growth and fuels the production of T-cells and tells pituitary to release hormones.
  - - - One on top of each kidney that make steroid hormones, adrenaline, and noradrenaline. These hormones help control heart rate, blood pressure, and other important body functions.
    - - In the pancreas and secretes glucagon and insulin that controls blood glucose levels, and appetite, stimulates stomach acid, tells stomach when to empty.
  - - - Important role in reproductive development and menstruation. Estrogen and progesterone play an important role in female traits, such as breast development, body shape, and body hair.
  - - - Producing and storing sperm and crucial for creating testosterone and other male hormones called androgens. Important during male development and maturation for developing muscles, deepening the voice, and growing body hair.
  - - - Establishment and maintenance of pregnancy, adaptation of the maternal organism to pregnancy and fetal growth. Progesterone, estrogen and lactogen produce active growth of functional breast tissue during the course of pregnancy. Helps prepare the body for breast feeding.
