Linear motion
Levers
Class 1
In all pulley questions the particles are moving in different directions so are considered separately rather than the system being treated as one.
Class 2
If a particle is in motion in the direction being considered then Newton's Laws of Motion apply so use “F = ma” (N2L)

Fixed pulleys
A pulley system in which the pulley is attached to a fixed point and the rope is attached to the object.
Moveable pulleys
is a type of pulley which is free to move up and down, and its one end is attached to a ceiling or other object by two lengths of the same rope
