It is shown through is appearance
Physiognomy
Judging people from their appearance
Hyde:

Jekyll:
"The very pink of properties."
"I learned to recognise the primitive duality of man." Jekyll
"primitive" suggests that Jekyll thinks everyone is has duality and always has had it
Jekyll recognises the duality that everyone has
Therefore he knows the evil potential everyone has in them
Allegorical:
There is no difference between upper class and lower class
"Drank gin when he was alone" Narrator about Utterson
Gin was seen at the time as a lower class drink.
Utterson couldn't be seen drinking his gin otherwise it'd damage his reputation
On the outside Utterson seems very upperclass but he actually isn't
"Hyde was thenceforth impossible; whether I would or not,"
Jekyll must get rid of Hyde
The evil in Hyde is taking over any evil in Jekyll because they're still the same being
Hyde was the stronger personality
Everyone has their evil

Everyone must fulfil their basic needs which can be evil
