LYMPHATIC SYSTEM MARSYA PUNYA - Coggle Diagram
LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
-
-
HOW DOES IT WORK ?
- plasma (the liquid part of the blood) flow out of tiny pores in the thin walls of capillaries
- delivers oxygen and nutrients to the tissues surrounding each capillary
- tissues hungrily soak up all the nutrients while leaving behind waste
- the plasma picks up the waste --> returns to the bloodstream the same way it came, by flowing back through the pores in capillary walls
- lymphatic capillaries pick up remaining fluid --> fluid changed its name (plasma) --> lymph.
- lymphatic capillaries move the lymph into larger tubes called lymphatic vessels
- vessels keep the lymph moving until it ultimately reaches one of two major ducts in the upper chest (right lymphatic duct and thoracic duct).
- --> merge into large veins (subclavian veins) --> empty the lymph into them.--> lymph reenters bloodstream --> flow through the body again
