Ways in which Marriages and Families Can Develop Healthier Relationships
Building strong marriage
relationships need to be nurtured and protected in order to grow and remain healthy
Having a weekly meeting for about 15 minutes with your partner to discuss 1 or 2 issues and 1 or 2 strengths of your relationship
One Night a week, have a date with each other, just as you did before marriage
Remember to share feelings with one another and listen to what they have to say
Try to resolve issues as soon as possible
If a problem persists for 2 to 3 months, try to take suggestions for resolving conflicts and disagreements between individuals in a couple relationship
Be assertive--e.g. asking for what you want --so your partner does not have to guess
Find time to dialogue for 5 minutes each day about /over your relationship
At least once a year try to attend a work shop to in rich your marriage
Give one or two compliments or more to your partner each day
Building a stronger family
In order for any family to work no matter what its makeup is, there has to be a conscious effort to install positive feelings and a sense that every family member is equally important
Give at least one compliment to each family member each day
do a daily dialogue for 5 to 10 minutes each day about what is happening with each family member
try to have your family meal together with everyone present.
Have a weekly family meeting for about 30 to 45 minutes with all family members attending each member should say one thing they like about the family and one issue they have with their family that everyone will work on during the following week
Remember to give top priority to your marriage
Be as assertive as your children are with you (not aggressive but assertive)
Remember to listen to your kids and hear each one of them out
Spend one hour of quality time each weak with each child (one on one).
