- - - - On the right wing, nearly all of the Kaisers advisors remained in their positions in the army in the judiciary civil service and industry. They restricted Ebert a powerful myth developed that Ebert had stabbed Germany in the back
      - On the left wing, there were many communists who believed that at this stage Germany needed a communist revolution just like Russia's in 1917
    - - Ebert signed it in August 1919 It was a federal. republic with a president as state head. It divided Germny into sets which all had their own governments

      - the president or head of state was elected every 7 years and he chose the chancellor, whom he can also dismiss

      - There was universal suffrage, all adults over 20 could vote and all citizens had equal rights
      - In January 1919 elections there were 18 different parties Ebert's SDP party won
- - - - In March 1920 DR Wolfgang Kapp led 500 Freikorps into Berlin in a rebellion the army refused to fire on the freikorps and thought Ebert was doomed. However German workers went on a general strike bringing the country to a halt. Kapp released he could not succeed and fled, he eventually was captured and he died awaiting trial
        
        despite this other rebels went unpunished by courts. Ebert's government struggled to deal with political violence. Assanations were frequent like Walther Rathenau a jew killed by extremists. There was the Munich putsch led toy Hitler and they all received short prison terms
  - - - In jan 1919 The sparticist were joined by rebel soldiers and sailors they set top soviets in many towns. Not all soldiers were on the side for the sparticits a right wing group called the freikorps were formed and fought them heavy casualties led to the friekorps winning and the sparticist leaders being killed
        
        This revolt was followed by another in Bavaria. Ebert used the same tactics he had against the spartcists. He sent the friekorps in who killed 600 communists.
        
        In 1920 there was more communist agitation in the Ruhr industrial are. police and freikorps again clashed with commnuists. There were 2000 casualties
        
        Ebert's ruthless measures against the communists created bitterness between them and his socialist party. However it gained approval from many in Germnay. Ebert was scared of Germany becoming like Russia
  - - - The results were disastrous for Germnay. The government ordered workers to go on strike that way to stop producing stuff for francethe most important region to Germany's ecconomy cause the economy to crash the French killed over 100 workers and expelled 100000
    - - Germany needed immediate action so appointed new chancellor Gustav Stresseman, he called of passive resistance, he called in worthless marks and burnt them replacing them with the new rentenmark. He negotiated American kaons under the Dawes plane and renegotiated reparation payments
