Year 1 (Reading comprehension):

Using this book for story time, whilst reading to whole class keep taking breaks to direct questions to the children and once finished again ask further questions and even use 'think, pair, share' for them to discuss their understanding and views.
Year 1 (Writing):
NC: "Write sentences by sequencing sentences to form short narratives."
"What can you bring to the tea party?"
Children are provided with a sheet that has a space for them to initially draw the item they would like to bring and then they are asked to name and describe the item they have chosen.

Geography
NC: Use simple compass directions (North, South, East and West) and locational and directional language [for example, near and far; left and right], to describe the location of features and routes on a map.
Children create a map for the aliens to get to the tea party.

Children use the fundamental movement learned in previous lessons to put together a sequence of movements to space music. The sequence of movements - Stillness, gesture, travel, jump, travel, turn, stillness.
NC: master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching, as well as developing balance, agility and co-ordination, and begin to apply these in a range of activities.
