System Compatibility
Organizations are, more and more, looking to exploit the potential of their existing sets of data, and the data that they are constantly gathering. However, in order to carry out analysis, they need to bring together this data, which may be stored or managed using different systems or processes. This may create significant obstacles to data analysis.
For example, key sales data may be stored in an old, legacy finance system, whereas data relating to online customer data may be cloud-based. Bringing together data from a legacy system with a modern system in the analytics process may be challenging. Even if the systems storing data are relatively new, there is no guarantee that they have common interfaces or query languages. Additional effort to overcome this system incompatibility may be required.
