alternate exp- suggests there is a freeze stage which allows animal/human to be alert and check the situation, this is an adaptive response to stress to help look for new information. means fight or flight not full explanation
limitation- beta bias as assumes women and men have same response to fight or flight system however evidence suggests females focus energy on caring for their offspring and forming defensive networks with other females, known as tend and befriend response.
