He is a superficial character: using mitigation, euphemism, and changes of tone to word what he is saying in different ways to avoid appearing racist. He is constantly avoiding coming across as racist.

Underneath his mitigation, it is clear that he believes that his white complexion makes him superior to the Younger family.

The mask worn by Mr Linder is one of an understanding, non-racist person.
Yet, the reality is that he is hypocritical and superficial, masks his selfishness in wanting to avoid having a black family move into his neighbourhood.
He even reduces the Younger family by holding the belief that they will take money over their dignity and pride.

Her reference to Booker T.Washington (a famous assimilationist) represents her defeatist brand of assimilation - conforming to her situation rather than aspiring to more from life like the younger family.

She holds the belief that AA should not aim for something higher in life, a belief that challenges the Youngers dreams.

She shames the Youngers for their dignity and pride, Hansberry making a comment on the social attitudes that place shame on transgression.
Her sentences are typically complex: as if she is speaking quickly and rambling, she elongates her speech.
