microtubule motors in vesicle transport - Coggle Diagram
microtubule motors in vesicle transport
Types
kinesins
move toward the positive end of microtubules
usually at the periphery of the cell
dyneins
move toward the negative end of microtubules
usually near the nucleus, from MTOCs (centrosomes)
structure and function
general structure
cargo binding domain
linker region
helical or coiled coil
cytoskeletal binding domain
function
facilitate movement of things in cell, and support organelle positioning
PROOF
inhibition of these motor proteins or microtubule polymerisation caused;
dispersal of golgi throughout cell
instead of localisation near the nucleus
PROOF of importance
knockout of specific kinesins prevents certain proteins reaching the plasma membrane
this can disrupt signalling pathways and TFs wont internalise into the nucleus
no differentiation or proliferation
