War in Trenches
IN 1915, each armies dug trenches that lasted for miles. These trenches were created to protect from enemy fire.
Soldiers described it as hell. They said it was very very mud and it was nearly impossible to sleep.
Soldiers would remain in trenches until sent out into the battlefield in between trenches. Trenches didn't gurantee saftey as the opposing army could use artillery to drop bombs right into the trench from above
throuhgout this time each side lost around 300,000 men
