West Quay developement
Industrial factories use to work on the sit West Quay is built on but Factories left the site in the 1900s.
Foundations of West Quay is built on its site (brownfield site) which makes it more expensive to build on but is building on land that was used.
This helps the environment as more greenfield site remain
West Quay shopping centre ranked 18th in the whole of Europe

Docks remain to be Southamptons most traditional job
Docks can be seen even in the 18000s map
The ports provide 15,000 job opportunities to its employees.
Most of Southamptons wealth comes from trading
Its distance from the capital of the UK makes it have lots of job opportunities as the travel system reaches it to London in 1.5 hours
Easy to commute to work aas lots of close cities and itslef to work in and infastrucutre to travel makes it easy compared to other places
Southampton has a scientist park dedicated to endangered animal species
People cannot however take a walk in this park because it is for the animals.
Researchers at the universities studiy these animals and it is behind the university

Southampton has got big parks to try and counter the downsides of a city
Lots of green space to create urban cooling and reduce pollution from the city.
The parks in Southampton are upgrading to have gym equipment. This encourages people to stay fit and improves quality of life while reducing the strain on healthcare so it works both ways. It saves Southampton from paying much to the healthcare services and it improves the quality of life.
Southampton St Mary's area was an industrial area and wasn't very popular until the company who owned it had invested into making a stadium which attracted a lot of visitors who like to watch the game
