Water Cycle 💧 - Coggle Diagram
Water Cycle 💧
What is the Water Cycle ?
It is a
continuous movement of water
from the earth, to the sky and back to earth
Evaporation and condensation enable the water cycle to take place
Heat energy
from the sun causes water on the earth to
evaporate
, forming water vapour
Water evaporates from the
ground
and
water bodies
, such as lakes, reservoirs and Vapour in the air
Living things
to also release water Vapour and into the air
Warm air
cools
as it rises to the sky. Water vapour in it
condenses
into tiny
water droplets
, which gather to form clouds
When the water droplets become big and heavy, they fall from the clouds as
rain
,
snow
or
hail
Rain falls onto the earth as
fresh water
. Some of it falls onto the ground and into water bodies
Clouds provides
rain
,
snow or hail
, which are forms of
fresh water
Clouds
also help to
reduce
the effect of the
Sun’s direct rays
on the earths
How can we conserve water ?
Although oceans and seas have a lot of water, it is not suitable for drinking
As we have
limited supply
of
usable water
, we should be careful of how it is being used
Water conservation is the careful use of water in order to
avoid
its
wastage
By conserving water, we can ensure that the available supply of water lasts longer
Water can be conserve through the 3Rs
Reduce
Take a shower instead of a bath
Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth
Reuse
Use rain water to wash floors
Use water used to wash rice and vegetables to water the plants
Recycle
Treat waste water to make it usable
Why is the water cycle important ?
All livings
need water
to stay
alive
The water cycle in the only
natural
way to
refresh
water. It ensures a
constant
supply of fresh water for living things on earth
Evaporation
helps to separate water from the dirt and salt on the ground and in water bodies
When water falls through the air as rain, it helps to
purify
the air by removing
impurities
, such as chemical as gases
Why is water a precious resource ?
It is important, yet
limited resource
on earth
Only
1%
of the water in the earth is for
consumption
Most
water exists in solid state as
icebergs
and glaciers, some is collected underground as
groundwater
Water also exists as
water vapour
and in cold regions as
ice
and
snow
