what is wool
according to Von athm A.B (2014) "Wool is a fiber made by spinning the fur of hairy mammals, usually sheep, into yarn. The yarn is then woven or knitted into a fabric. Wool fabric is used to make socks, gloves, sweaters, and other garments for cold weather".
What can we use wool for?
The majority of uses for wool include making clothing, accessories for winter wear, beds, furniture, crafts, carpets, cloth diapers, and even as an insulator and fertiliser.
How is wool made?
A sheep's wool is typically clipped when it reaches 7.5 cm in length. Yarn spinning is the process of twisting together the shorter fibres to create a longer yarn.
Several steps are involved in the production of wool:
Shearing
Sorting
Cleaning and scouring
Carbonizing
Carding
