Police
2010- 2018 budget cut by 19%-> led to 20 000 staff loss; less crimes detected+ thoroughly investigated; more mistakes

Metropolitan police admits to deploying CCTV in busy areas to scan as many faces as possible-> breaches human rights
2019- easier stop and search, allows all police officers to conduct stop+ search with/ without reasonable suspicion-> criminal justice+ public act 1994
extreme offences eg the Suffragettes-> result in moral outbreak+ police work to maintain this
Judiciary
2 year case backlog- court costs increase

London mayor 2017 created new policies to tackle hate crimes
moral imperatives are supported by functionalism as some crime can be considered a good thing if it leads to social change e.g. suffragettes
Charities
NACRO- ban Friday release-> access to services is limited over the weekend;
recidivism rates have doubled since 1993-> Prison Reform Trust: more work needed to stop this;
lost more than £3.8 billion in grants-> less public donations= less effective work;
knife bins used to reduce crimes involving weapons-> weapons are not analysed
due process model limits agencies and their power
Prison Reform Trust¬ only 12% of employers said they had employed someone with/ without criminal record in the last 3 years
Probation Services
more reoffending= more time spent on reports
2006- 25 000 staff; 2016- 9 000 staff-> resulted in high staff turnover+ poor pre sentence reports
release on temporary license were restricted in 2013- ROTL's given to individuals with lower repeat offending rates
resources within community are limited- lack of jobs/ homelessness/ lack of money;
employment after prison= more positive environment-> only 1 in 4 people get a job on release;
Prisons
16% budget cut; 15% staff loss-> no money to provide work or education;
44 out of 119 prisons had no functioning telephone call lines- prisoners who receive a family visit 37
4-> less likely to reoffend; family relations are so important to stop reoffending;
nearly 2/3 of prisoners have literacy levels of a 11 yr old- inadequate resources to education+ work-> encourages bad behaviour
longer sentences- lead to over population prisners learn from each other making them better criminals
CPS:
25% budget cut, 1/3 staff loss- heavier caseloads, more inexperienced staff
recidivism rates increase- more cases going through court-> court delay
CCTV+ face ID misidentifies people of color- can lead to false convictions due to poor/ inadmissible evidence
2010/15 national policy to tackle knife, gun, gang crime- new offences were introduces-> gang injunctions to help improve prosecution rates
CPS can focus on particular policies- 2017 head of CPS cracked down on hate crimes on social media
moral imperatives led to more caseload within CPS- because people participate
