Solar Panels really can lead to a better future
for everyone
Why do people not choose solar?
Because they don't agree with renewable energy?
Sometimes there are ideological barriers to people adopting new technology - for example I come from Pennsylvania where a lot of people owe their lives to coal and love it for what it did for their family or community
This could tie in with the appeal to humanity - maybe a new community could be built off this new energy source?
There could also be the appeal to people's identity - we can create new identities around solar
Some of these communities benefitted from coal and natural gas - how were they negatively affected? is that something I want to bring up?
Sometimes people are invested in fossil fuels - how do we approach them and get them "in on the action" when it comes to solar?
Because they don't know anything about solar energy?
There are better options than Solar Energy?
Maybe fossil fuels really are better in certain scenarios where immediate energy is incredibly important?
I'm sure there are places where the cost/rate of return does not add up positively - what could we do in situations where the money doesn't make sense but we still want solar?
How do Solar Panels help our environment?
A story about solar energy helping a community
A person installs solar, inspires others to do the same until a noticable change has occurred
A story of a family of renters who don't install solar, but benefit from a public source of solar energy
Maybe broaden the story to that of an entire town who collectively switch to solar, among other renewable forms of energy
Logical facts about solar energy - cost, savings, graphs
This is where I would want to include any scientific information gained from (public) journal articles
Maybe this is also where I can go into the process of how solar panels are made? where do they come from? How do we get them installed?
Personal appeal - not facts backed up with science, but perhaps why they appeal to us emotionally
The beauty of a landscape without fossil fuel, the innovation that humans love, moving towards "the next step" as a global community
I feel like I should include a personal appeal - why am I writing this piece? (other than it's an assignment)
I come from Pennsylvania, a land of fossil fuels but also of innovation and hard workers. This is my background... can it help my audience understand where I am coming from ?
I also love the environment - not just for its innate beauty but also because I love to fish and hunt and hike, and I feel like everyone agrees with keeping the environment clean and usable - more than agreeing with climate change or other "controversial" topics.
Are there places where I think there should never be solar? Are there limits to my argument?
I think people who love classic cars and motorcycles would be against replacing them with electricity. Does this apply anywhere else? could we make exceptions and still have a clean environment?
