Some of the specialized markets that existed in historic Jeddah are: the fish market known as "Al-Banqalah", the vegetable and butcher market in Al-Nawariyah located at the end of Qabil Street towards the east, the grand market where fabrics of various kinds are sold in large and small shops crowded with luxurious fabrics, the Khaskiyah market located behind Dar Al-Sheikh Mohammad Nasif, the Nadda market where most of the shops sell shoes, in addition to the Jamia market named after the Shafi'i mosque, the Hababah market located at Bab Makkah, the Haraj market (public auction) which was located at Bab Sharif, the Bedouin market at Bab Makkah where everything that attracts the Bedouin residents is sold, the Asr market located at Bab Sharif and held every afternoon at that time, the Baraghiah market where donkey and mule saddles are made and sold near the Shurbatli building, and the Subhiyah market where swimming pools are manufactured and sold, which is located in the same area as the Khaskiyah market.
