How might environmental inclusion of disabled people mitigate the several forms of discrimination against the disabled in areas around the world? (3 fax on each branch)
Employment issues
the employment rate among working age people with disabilities was at only 17 percent compared to 65 percent of people without disabilities, even after the ADA's enforcement. (Disability studies)
Getting a job is something fundamental to our survival, and the life of someone without a job is going to be significantly harder. A person's disability should not define if they will be selected for a job or not; this is a serious inequality issue.
People with disabilities typically earn less than people without disabilities at their job. (Roughly 10k less per year on average) (Disability Studies)
Even if they simply did not want a job, or if their disability would make it difficult for them to perform that job, those with disabilities who want a job will receive significantly less than others, which is severely unjust.
indirect discrimination: imposing a requirement or condition for a job, facility or service which makes it harder for disabled people to gain access to it, e.g. requiring health records of disabled persons that are not commonly required of other job applicants when determining employability.
People with disabilities may face obstacles in the workforce, but this does not mean it is necessary to exclude them entirely. Accommodations can be made if someone with a disability wants a job or wants to help an institution.
Health disputes
Disabled people are not properly cared for in nursing homes, hospitals, or prisons. (HRW)
These three areas are institutions in which people need assistance with their health, or redirection. Neglecting specifically those who are disabled makes those with disabilities more likely to have shorter lifespans and be at higher risk for physical illnesses, depending on if their disability impacts their health.
30% of Americans report having a “basic” physical or cognitive disability, while 14% experience bigger limitations that make it harder to participate in society. (Silvia)
This means that an estimated 46 Million americans experience limitations that place them in an unfair position in our society.
15 percent of PWD report not seeing a doctor due to cost in comparison to 6 percent of the general population. (Yee)
In the event that an individual with one or more disabilities is paid less, then this means that this statistic is logical and they will additionally struggle with getting healthcare. Equal opportunity to healthcare is extremely important, and People with disabilities are deserving of equal treatment in hospitals.

Counterclaim: In the workforce specifically, people believe that implementation of disabled people in the workforce would reduce productivity and hinder the environment.
Rebuttal: This does not need to happen. People with autism in the work environment can use noise cancelling headphones or be accomodated a different way, but they do not need to be excluded entirely. This is just one example. :star:
